Wow what trade at CCM for the last sale of 2021, with the top priced Holstein of the year so far!
Vendors must be commended on a quality show of all classes of stock, and a good number of buyers from throughout the year were on hand to bid on the tremendous show on offer.
Trade topped at £2750 for the Champion, first prize heifer in milk from regular vendor Robert Crisp (joined in the picture by daughter Natalie) a week calved heifer by ABS Grazie who heads back to Craig Bentley and family at Kepwick, Thirsk. Robert Crisp consigned four heifers on the day to average a massive £2355, with all sailing over the £2000 barrier as indeed did a huge seven out of the nine milkers forward.
Next up was the Reserve Champion and 2nd placed heifer under judge Robert Metcalfe, Brearton a Unix sired heifer giving over 30kg and fresh on 28th November from Martin Petch and Aytonian Holsteins, Great Ayton. She made £2550 and headed back to Tong with Mark Goodall. Aytonian Winter 47 had a 12,000kg VG dam and a 13,000kg EX granddam.
The third placed heifer in the pre sale show was awarded to Stephen and Ben Coates, with this black heifer from a high component family backed by 2 gens VG and descending from one of Mrs Dunbars cow families, she was the pick of Messrs Dinsdale, Rainhall Farms, Barnoldswick at £2320.
Two ongoing dispersal vendors also enjoyed good trade and saw their cattle go to previous buyers, endorsing the ability of both the Dibbs and Wilson's to sell stock who fair well in their new homes. Messrs Dibb at Kilnsey saw their trade top at £2050 for a second calver giving 30kg and fresh since mid November and she also headed back to the Bentleys at Thirsk, while Jack and Alan Wilson brought four in calf animals forward from Green Hammerton due in January. They peaked at £1600 for an in calf heifer by Optimal due to the Saler and she was the pick of Richard Sutcliffe, Queensbury while lot 63 coming with her third calf made £1400 to the judge.
