Craven Dairy Auction (61 head)
A sticky day in the dairy ring with a big entry for the For Farmers show and sale with trade continuing to be very volatile throughout. Well put together animals were a pleasure to sell with some strong cows from Calvert Bros and the Champion heifer from David Lawson enjoying the highest of trades at £1800 - £1900. Good honest dairy heifers were harder to sell with a large portion of heifers £1350 to £1650.
Incalf and maiden cattle seemed well supported with not quite best grown heifers for their age from John Roberts and David and Jill Pennock reaching a strong trade up to £830. Incalf heifers were topped Jeff Throup of Silsden Moor with a big black heifer.
Pedigree bulls were in demand at the end of the sale with three strong bulls selling easily and lots of interest in others outside the ring. Robert Butterfield from the Ingleview Herd topped proceedings with his entry reaching 1750gns to Mark Goodall of Tong and a big 2yr old bull from Alan Throup of the Dalesbrad herd reached 1450gns to Alf and Andrew Townsend.
