CRAVEN CHAMPIONS PRESS - WEDNESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2016

Walker family maintains dominance of Skipton store cattle show arena The Walker farming family from Dunsop Bridge again walked off with a fistful of honours, including the supreme championship, also the top price performer, at the new-look ‘Craven Champions’ double-header, the annual opening show and sale of store cattle with show potential at Skipton Auction Mart. (Tues & Wed, Feb 16 & 17)

CRAVEN CHAMPIONS SHOW - TUESDAY 16TH & WEDNESDAY 17TH FEBRUARY 2016

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle inc Craven Champions Show. Forward: 680 head of cattle Comprising: 195 Young Feeding Bulls, 469 Bullocks & Heifers, 2 Feeding Cows & 14 Breeding Cattle.

LIVESTOCK ONLY - SATURDAY 13TH FEBRUARY 2016

MARKET REPORT – SATURDAY 13th FEBRUARY 2016 CCM Auctions Conducted their Monthly Sale of Stirks, Weaned Calves and Young Store Cattle. A smaller show on this wintery Saturday. Forward – 89 head cattle & 15 head goats & sheep

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 3RD FEBRUARY 2016

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 781 head of cattle Comprising: 301 Young Feeding Bulls, 473 Bullocks & Heifers, 3 Feeding Cows & 4 Breeding Cattle. A cracking entry of cattle for CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale sold away to another packed ringside. Young Bulls saw plenty of quality on offer as judge Rob Matten worked his way around the pens officiating the February prize show, prize winners and prices below. Finishers obviously have their eyes on a stalling prime trade and strong bulls and stores were no dearer. But yearling and younger cattle continue to attract strong prices and are not affected as much as the strong stuff.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 20TH JANUARY 2016

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 747 head of cattle Comprising: 245 Young Feeding Bulls, 488 Bullocks & Heifers, 6 Feeding Cows and 8 Breeding Cattle A busy day at CCM Skipton today with 747 head of cattle presented for sale, representing an increase of 237 head on the corresponding sale in 2015. The pick of the spring born bulls 350 to 450kg met a very good trade at similar levels to 2015 and an improvement on the opening sale. Continental x average £948 (2015 £949) with a number of new faces at the ringside for the first time this year.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 6TH JANUARY 2016

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 1,528 head of cattle Comprising: 412 Young Feeding Bulls, 1,110 Bullocks & Heifers, 5 Feeding Cows & 1 Cow & Calf. An increased entry of feeding bulls at the opening sale of store cattle attracted a strong line up of 21 separate buyers keen to purchase cattle but at a reduced price to reflect current uncertainty on dead weight pricing. Plenty of competition for well bred 2015 spring calves in forward condition with smaller bulls harder to move and strong short keep bulls £1100 to £1200.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle inc Christmas Show Forward: 269 head of cattle Comprising: 122 Young Feeding Bulls, 137 Bullocks & Heifers, 10 Breeding Cattle CCM Auctions held their Christmas Prize Show & Sale of Store Cattle at Skipton Mart on Wednesday where a tidy entry was forward for sale. Trade was seen to be stronger than of late with a good company of buyers looking for cattle. There were some great cattle on show for the time of year and top price on the day was for a British Blue Heifer from Sheila Mason of Keasden that was first prize in its class and sold for £1,340.

CHRISTMAS STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 9TH DECEMBER

Sheila Mason secures top price at Skipton festive store cattle showcase Skipton Auction Mart’s annual Christmas store cattle show and sale – the last of the festive fixtures - attracted a tidy and quality turnout of 269 head, comprising 122 young feeding bulls, 137 bullocks and heifers, and ten breeding cattle, with trade seen to be stronger than of late, as a good company of buyers sought goods. (Wed, Dec 9) Like last year, Sheila Mason, who runs the Keasden Head pedigree herd in Clapham, produced the first prize heifer, a British Blue by her well-regarded stock bull, Bringlee Campbell, who was also responsible for the 2014 victor.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 25TH NOVEMBER 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 368 head of cattle Comprising: 83 Young Feeding Bulls, 264 Bullocks & Heifers, 19 Breeding Cattle & 2 Feeding Cows At CCM Auctions fortnightly sale at Skipton Mart there was a mixed show of cattle with a wide variety of breeds and types that were all sold to better prices. Good bullocks and heifers still selling to strong trade with Donald Sunderland of Halton East taking the highest priced pen of three with a strong packet of Limousin Heifers at £1,115 with Peter Fox taking the highest overall with a fantastic Lim at £1340. Best dairy bred cattle were also strong with Keith Downs topping the Black and White bullocks with a pair at £965.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 11TH NOVEMBER 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 391 head of cattle Comprising: 73 Young Feeding Bulls, 235 Bullocks & Heifers, 1 Feeding Cows, 11 Breeding Cattle & 71 Pedigree Beef Shorthorn & South Devon Cattle. A mixed show of cattle for late in the season. Strong and short keep sorts were easily sold with buyers appearing keen for these, natives also finding favour as usual. However some younger cattle were no dearer as buyers stand off some suckled calves with the soft weather not helping with housing of cattle after weaning.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 28TH OCTOBER 2015

Forward: 539 head of cattle Comprising: 146 Young Feeding Bulls, 1 Grazing Cows, 382 Bullocks & Heifers, 10 Breeding Cattle CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly cattle sale at Skipton Mart on Wednesday which included the Annual Autumn Show & Sale of Suckled Bull Steer and Heifer calves (2015 born) together with a prize Show of over year show potential cattle (2014 born).

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 14TH OCTOBER 2015

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 605 head of cattle Comprising: 67 Young Feeding Bulls, 497 Bullocks & Heifers, 25 Breeding Cattle & 16 Pedigree Bulls Another large show of cattle presented for sale at Skipton this week which has been the case all summer and Autumn, with Young Feeding Bulls a decent trade, as were smart stores, strong cattle and yearling bullocks. However anything second quality, regardless of age was certainly less money than the previous sale.

LIVESTOCK ONLY - SATURDAY 10TH OCTOBER

Forward – 196 head cattle: 54 Bulls, 126 Bullocks & Heifers and 16 Breeding Cattle. 22 Breeding/Store Sheep and Goats. 95 Lots of Poultry & Waterfowl. 66 Pedigree Charollais Females.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 31ST SEPTEMBER

MARKET REPORT – WEDNESDAY 30th SEPTEMBER 2015 Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 702 head of cattle Comprising: 108 Young Feeding Bulls, 579 Bullocks & Heifers, 3 Feeding Cows & 12 Breeding Cattle.

STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 16TH SEPTEMBER 2015

Forward: 618 head of cattle Comprising: 70 Young Feeding Bulls, 483 Bullocks & Heifers & 65 Breeding Cattle. There was no let up in cattle numbers at CCM Skipton on Wednesday where a grand entry of 618 head were penned for sale, completing a busy week of 850 Store cattle passing through Skipton Mart having had 232 Stirks at the Monthly sale on Saturday. Young Bulls were a strong trade with additional customers back round the ring with harvest having been been completed. Again there was good interest shown in the 7-8 month old bulls that have been warmed up with creep feed and starting to go forward. Stronger quality Bulls remain up around £1,300.
