Oddacres also produced the Reserve Overall Champion, the Gallois son ‘Oddacres Otto’ bred out of ‘Homebyres Elitelady’ which as the last Gallois son to be sold was keenly bid and bought by JJ Ryder of Haverah Park.
The Overall Supreme Champion came from an exceptional pen of bulls consigned by Procters Farm of Slaidburn. ‘Procters Nitro’ is a September 2017 son of Ampertaine Foreman bred out of the Haltcliffe DJ cow Procters Gwen with very strong EBVs selling to D&A Livestock for 5800gns.
Winner of the 1^st Intermediate Bull class of the day was ‘Procters National’ and August 2017 son of Haltcliffe Dancer bred out of the Objat Gelnrock Diamante which sold to Herdman & Son of Builth Wells for 5000gns.
Back to the Procters Gwen flush to Ampertaine Foreman, Procters produced a second prize Intermediate bull in ‘Procters Nijinsky’ which sold to A Lodge on Malham Moor for 4800gns.
Also travelling to Wales was Cropmel Naughtyboy a naturally born heifers calf by Plumtree Fantastic consigned by John Melling and Claire Cropper which sold to BG Price of Hay on Wye for 5000gns.
A good choice of senior bulls met a mixed trade but Intermediate and Junior Bulls saw good clearance rates.
The female section saw a good clearance rate and top price of 3000gns paid by Janet Sheard for the 2014 cow ‘Angiean Javina by Ionesco sold with her own British Blue heifer calf which was shown by Messers IK&AM Grisedale of Crooklands.
Top incalf heifer at 1900gns was Prietec Nessa consigned by Messrs T&E Priestley of Mewith. The 2017 Hudscales George bred heifer joined TH&A Pickard & Son of Bolton by Bowland.
