A few calves around today with young continental calves a cracking trade right through the day. Chris Watson was on the end of a good trade for his Flekvieh x calves with 10 averaging £228 and topping at £260. Church Farm Enterprises took the top call at £410 x2 for two of his sweet British Blue bulls. Johnny Moon of Wigglesworth topped the heifers at £370 for cracker of a dark heifer.

 

Native calves were out in good numbers today with 11 young Hereford bull calves averaging £200 and topping at £220 from JC Marshall, Dacre. Aberdeen Angus average £208 and topped at £245 from JR&MJ Moon.

Craven Dairy Auction (13 head)

 All the cattle that were forward today were with a mixed bag of goods on offers. 1st rate heifers got away well with Tony and James Swires of Stainburn topping proceedings with their home bred heifer. The heifer a “Miresdale Finest” daughter was calved 10 days and giving 27 litres, which went on to sell for the sale high of £2020 to Mark Goodall of Tong

 

2nd rate heifers also got away well with some average goods bid fiercely for, with many reaching the early teens.
