DAIRY & CALVES - MONDAY 5TH NOVEMBER 2018

Rearing Calves to £415 (94) Dairy av £53.17 Cont av £240.31 Native av £190.28 A healthy number of calves around this morning with 94 through the door. A much more predictable trade was seen today with best continentals still commanding strong money, with Paul & Janet Bolland of Airton topping the day £415 for a cracking bull calf. Native bulls were into a high gear today averaging £257 and topping at £330 for an impressive calf from Brian and Judith Moorhouse of Bell Busk, with plenty of Angus bulls over £300 this morning.




B&W’s were certainly dearer this week with an average of £53.17 with straight calves £50 - £90 and best friesians topping the proceedings at £170 presesnted by RM Spence, Sutton In Craven.

Craven Dairy Auction (14 head)

 Robin Jennings of South Stainley took top honours today with the Judge Milke Longster picking his heifer as his favourite. The 34 litre Razzle daughter, was calved 18 days and sold for £1950 to Mark Goodall of Tong, with Mr Jennings’ reserve Champion selling to the judge for £1600.

 

In the cows it was Sally Wellock who saw some fierce bidding with her 2nd Calver giving 35kg selling for £1920 to John Howard of Heslaker, with another cow from Ian Parkinson selling for £1500 to Abbott bros of Dacre.

 

A trailer full of youngstock again from the Dickinson family of Penistone saw a nice following topping at £800 twice for some healthy bulling heifers.
