2nd Annual Dales Blue Sale of Blue Texel & Blue Texel X Rams and Females
The 2nd Annual Sale of Blue Texels saw 70 sheep go under the hammer in the craven ring this morning with what seemed like a quiet ringside, however, the people who were there were there to buy.
Top call of the day went to Tom Barley for a cracking Blue Texel Ram Lamb selling for 320gns.
Three registered Blue Texel ewes from Andrew Bailey met some fierce bidding with his Shearling & 2 shear ewe selling for 240gns and 230gns respectively with a 4 shear ewe selling for 200gns.
Ewe lambs were well sought after and found both pure bred and crossed blue texel lambs selling regularly away and topping at 200gns from a sweet gimmer lamb from Tom Barley.

Skipton Auction Mart staged its second annual Dales Blue sale, comprising Blue Texels and Blue Texel-cross rams and females, when 70 sheep went under the hammer. (Sat, Sept 1)
With eager buyers at the ringside, top call of the day at 320gns went to Tom Barley, of Northallerton, for a Blue Texel ram lamb sold to Sheffield’s SP Sykes, while a trio of registered Blue Texel ewes from Andrew Bailey, of Leyburn, met some fierce bidding, with his shearling and 2-shear ewe selling for 240gns and 230gns respectively, along with a 4-shear ewe at 200gns.
Ewe lambs were well sought after, with both pure-bred and crossed Blue Texels selling regularly away and topping at 200gns for a sweet gimmer lamb, again from Tom Barley.
Ram lambs averaged £254.63, aged ewes £231, shearling ewes £171.28 and ewe lambs £108.36.
