A tidy sale of Gimmer Lambs today with Mashams, Dales Mule and Swaledales all having their main show & Sale, whilst we also held our 3rd Seasonal Show & Sale of North of England Mule Gimmer lambs.  A big thank you to all our sponsors and judges for the day.

MASHAM (£81.60)

Messrs J Verity & Son of Middlesmoor were once again xx and winners of the Kemp Spokes Memorial Trophy at the Annual Show & Sale of Masham Gimmer Lambs held on behalf of the Masham Sheep Breeders Association with a pen of lambs selling to K Liddle & Partners for £120.

DALES MULE (£83.61)

The Josephine Bartlett Memorial Trophy awarded to the owner of the Champion pen of Dalesbred Mule Gimmer Lambs was won by RH&EA Close of Starbotton. Their lambs with a number in the pen by Tan House BFL ram from North Wales sold locally to Robert Wallbank of Embsay for £90.

NORTH OF ENGLAND MULE (£84.23)

Trade for North of England Mule Gimmer Lambs was brisk with NEMSA lambs averaging £84.23 and non NEMSA lambs averaging £82.50. Champion pen went to ASE Crips and joins RG Johnson for £128. The better tupping lambs were well past £100’s with mid range goods £93 - £100. Running lambs were as strong as ever with handy shearling makers and genuine runners £75 - £89 with very little under £70.

SWALEDALE (£77.31)

K Huck t/a G Huck & Son of Bordley retained his grip on the Craven Cattle Marts Trophy for the 2nd year running with his Champion pen of Swaledale Gimmer Lambs that sold to the show judges Dick & Alan Burley of Wath for £180. The lambs like last year predominately sired by a Nattrass tup and for second year running joined Messrs Burley of Wath. The sale saw a total clearance and the sale day average up £10.89 on the year.
