3,299 Prime Sheep
An increased show of sheep were dearer on the week and as is usual at this time of year the proportion of hill lambs increases with 1,145 Mule and Horned lambs in the entry of 2,922 head. Suffolk and Continental Crosses were dearer on the week with all weights seeing a lift in price, at the top end of the sale 16 pens broke through to make £100 or more, whilst 51 more pens sold at £90 to £99. Mule lambs were a similar trade, whilst horned lambs were generally a touch dearer. Cast sheep maintained the recent improved trade with strong ewes well into 3 figures and best hill bred over £70.

Once again calves a good even trade with black and whites just back on the previous week. Continentals turned out to be a straight trade with Church Farm Enterprises having the pick of the day with a smart black British Blue bull which made £380 and its mate £365. Natives up £30 on the week with Stapletons of Addingham reaching £240 for a bull calf.

Craven Dairy Auction (28 head)
A small show of newly calven cattle with 12 forward, plenty of buyers up to and around the £2000 mark but few to push on past. All met a good trade but no exceptional prices today. Incalf heifers were out in force today with a 16 strong entry. Both vendors received a strong trade for the good stamp of stock that they brought with incalf cattle averaging £1640.
