More lambs about today and another decent trade again. Heavy lambs were keenly contested all day, the 52kg and over bracket averaging 215.8p and the 45-52kg range levelling at 221.8p or £104.94 per head. There were however a lot of lambs in the entry 38kg or less and these generally sold away about 205-210p. Smart goods were not as numerous as usually seen, the best end in around the 250p mark. Cast sheep forward in good numbers and were a very similar trade, although more lean sucked ewes now getting into the entry.

Black and Whites were on fire today with Geoff and Margaret Booth of Lothersdale topping proceedings at £225 with an overall average of £115.80 for all types, it is clearly worthwhile bringing these calves to market to sell in front of strong competition.
Continental bulls were certainly as good as last week with nowhere near the quality on show today, however the best on show was from Richard Spence, Sutton in Craven reaching £415 for his British Blue bull. Heifers again outstripping bulls today with Fred Houseman seeing his calf reach £425 to regular supporters Malcolm and Stephen Abbott with all heifers averaging £349.50.
