2,858 Prime Sheep
There was a wonderful show of sheep
were forward for sale at Skipton today and put before a full contingent of buyers
to produce a fast selling trade. There were more lambs over 200p than under, so
the overall average must be higher than this figure and so it was at 206.31p
(135 pens under 200p, 223 pens at 200p or more). It was said the mornings trade
could take some matching, well match it we did and beat it by 10p/kg as well. This
can be verified at www.eblex.org.uk
There were some great runs of lambs
today, a close look at the prices and averages below will highlight this, but
not only some fantastic prices for the 1,513 Continental & Lowland breeds,
the 1,155 Hill bred lambs also performed well, seeing several prices over £90
per head for Mule, Swaledale, Lonk, Gritstone, Lonk, Cheviot and Scotch Black
Faced Lambs. Cast Sheep were also a nice trade with prices similar to last
week.

natives were well fought over with Church Farm Enterprises topping the trade at
£230. Calf Show next week with buyers out in force for all type and breed

Craven Dairy Auction (19 head)
A decent show of stock forward though
with a couple of punters missing trade was easier compared to previous sales.
The champion a beast from Robinsons of Eldroth reached £1950, below par for the
stamp of the beast. Keith Downs had the top priced newly calven with a 14 day
calved 31litre Heifer reaching £1980 again leaving us short of that illusive
£2000 mark. A positive note the Brown Swiss Cow from David Brown, Ramsgill flew
away first into the ring to keen supporter Robert Metcalfe, Brearton. Incalf
cattle from Mick Corner and John Roberts were a pleasure to sell with an
overall average of £1626.
