3,420 Prime Lambs
Top side of 3,000 lambs for the first time this season and a trade seeing an overall average of 203p/kg (+7p/kg on the week). A very mixed bag of weights, commercial lambs weighing 40kg to 42kg seeing the best trade of 205p to 210p, smart lambs under 40’s got away well too, but commercial sorts under 40’s were 5p less. Good heavy lambs also found a good following, plenty at £2 or more. Top end prices saw Peter Houseman of Padside made 261p or £102 of 39kg Beltex. Ian Moorhouse of Dacre made 259p or £101 of 39kg Beltex. Vivers Scotlamb purchased both these pens. Tim Robinson of Longridge made 248p or £92 of 37kg Beltex purchased by Andrew Atkinson. Other vendors with lambs above 230p/kg were PJ Bolland of Airton, S&P Scriven of Elslack, A Guy & Son of Elslack, E&M Townley & Son of Clapham, TA Robinson of Longridge and J&R Paisley of Ilkley. In the lump top price was £108 for 50kg Texels from A Guy & Son of Elslack purchased by Swaledale Foods, EB Webster of Cracoe made £107.50 for 55kg Suffolks purchased by J&E Medcalf & Son. Other three figure prices came from TA Robinson of Longridge, GW Houseman & Ptrs of Padside, A Guy & Son of Elslack, SM Collinson of Clayton Le Dale, TB Moorhouse of Dacre, MJ Spensley of Elslack, Some good pens of hill bred lambs coming forward with Joe Throup of Draughton selling 45kg Mules to £86 each. Cast sheep once again a sharp trade with more customers operating ringside and plenty of competition, especially for medium ewes fresh weaned.
