CRAVEN DAIRY AUCTION (15 head)
The early month dairy showed the confidence of the milk price rise with a good ringside of
farmer buyers. The show was short of numbers but stiff with competition with again
David Lawson winning, However, only just from the 2nd calver forward from Keith Downs, Bingley.
Trade was strong with the champion being picked off by Stephen Jeanes of Glusburn for £2200,
Reserve champion, a second calver from Keith Downs giving 44ltrs sold for £2000.
Peter Baul, Bishop Thornton rolled up with a fantastic Pedigree Heifer and took a well-deserved
top price of £2250 and sold to Mark Goodall of Tong. Other notable prices were from G&A Gaythorpe which made £2000 for a 30ltr heifer, and the returning Robin Jennings of South Stainley made £1850 of a smart 29ltr Pedigree Heifer eventually selling to Brian Blezard of Ribchester.
The depth in buyers ringside for the numbers was fantastic and were worthy of more cattle. Please get in touch with entries for the next sale on the 28th October.
