A very similar trade on the week for
most classes. Smart lambs the usual good trade with butchers, wholesalers and
exporters all competing strongly. The commercial export lambs were all 180p to
190p, whilsy heavier lowlambs lambs were generally £30 to £35 over the weight, smarter
end generally £40 to £45 over. Hill lambs were forward in much larger numbers
with just over 1,000 Mule and horned lambs in the entry which makes the overall
average of 170p look even more remarkable. Mule and horned lambs would general
be a shad dearer. Most Swaledale lambs £20 to £25 over the weight, Mule lambs
£26 to £28 over the weight. Cast ewes were a much sharper trade with additional
buyers competing at the ringside.

The final calf sale of 2013 was very well supported with a number of
fresh faces around the ringside to snap up some quality calves. Black and whites
were in high demand with all standards being considerably dearer than previous
weeks. Continentals were also well followed with even the planer sorts being
hard fought over.
Thank you all very much for the support and look forward to seeing you
all next year and increasing the numbers once more.

Craven Dairy Auction (20 head)
A small show of animals met a
tremendous trade with 11 of the 17 milkers making over two thousand pounds. The
show kindly judged by Mr Stuart Verity found the winner to be a home bred
heifer from Robert Crisp, Calton who also luckily drew his own number in the
BOCM prize raffle, the heifer that had been calved a week and giving 5 gallon
was eventually purchased by returning purchaser Mr Blockley of Cheshire. Other
notable prices were Jeremy Taylor at £2320, A Lawson & Son £2350, GB
Moorhouse £2320, £2250 M Baul & Partners, £2100 & £2080 Jennings
Farmers and two more from Robert Crisp at £2400 and £2200. All in all a great
day had by all and a big thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout
the Year.
