In a light show of cows 3 very plain girls may give the impression that cows were an easier trade. Suffice to say that cows with meat were a very similar trade the dairies circa 110p with the odd young cow at 127.5p, with any easing in price on the plain girls.

A handy show of calves this morning with 70 presented for sale. Continental calves were a shade easier on the fortnight with bidding considerably less vigorous for continental heifers compared to bulls. Best bulls were still a handy trade despite not being quite the quality of a week ago, however a sweet month old bull from John and Rob Marshall of Dacre still managed a very respectable £375.
Continental heifers would sell to a straight price today with arguably no show stoppers but good honest calves making £240 - £280 topping with Edward Fort, Silsden Moor.
Native calves were out in stronger numbers today with a particularly good trade for Aberdeen Angus heifers with an average of £140 and topping at £210 from JM Smith, Carleton.
