Numbers much tighter than anticipated this week and as a result the trade was significantly up on the week as buyers competed hard for the sheep on offer. Even though we held the Christmas Show yesterday, there were still some excellent runs of smart lambs forward for the regular weekly sale, and 250p plus was where the best end generally got to, up to 292.5p for Beltex from Paul Simpson.

Commercial sheep were short of requirements and 42kg to 45kg nice Texels and Continentals 190p to 200p, straight sorts 180p. Mule lambs were a tremendous trade, Joe Throup leading todays sale at £83.50 for a pen weighing 44kg’s (189p). Heavy lambs were also significantly dearer on the week by around £5-£7 per head.
