4,735 Prime Sheep
A large show of sheep this week, with seasonal numbers in full swing. Although the average was only 6p down on the week, the 4,099 lambs levelled at 167.5p. Anything a bit smarter, especially handy weights were good to sell, with a full complement of buyers ringside from start to finish to help move the extra sheep on offer. The monthly show was expertly judged by Mick Etherington, and there was a tremendous line up of lambs for him to make his pick from. Richard and Mark Ireland were victorious this month, and the pen of 5 Beltex crosses sold at £110 each. Other best end of smart lambs £95 to £105, or 25p to 240p/kg. Nice commercial lambs 170p to 185p, commercial sorts around 160p. Hill bred lambs coming in larger numbers and all selling well away.

A handy show of milkers on offer today and useful ringside of buyers meant for a straight trade for what was on offer. Mark Smith, Winterburn took the pre sale Championship with a really sweet heifer, Calved 21 days and giving a solid 28kg, she was highly sought after and sold to John Howard of Heslaker. The next top price went to the heifer from DA&SA Fort., Glusburn who sold there 26kg heifer to regular supporter Mark Goodall of Tong.
