Another large show of over 3600 lambs forward for sale, but a more mixed trade than last week. Smart lambs still a decent trade, best 200p to 260p, but there were not as many of this grade forward as last week. The nice handy weighted ¾ bred lambs 180p to £2, with best first crosses 170p to 180p. Commercial types 155p to 165p. Heavier lambs were, as predicited, a shade harder to sell with more of this weight range currently on the market, the final figures saw 1130 lambs scale 46kg or more, the smartest end 180p to £2, good types 165p to 180p, commercial sorts 150p to 165p.
Hill bred lambs were however a shade dearer on the week with a better enquiry seen for Mule Wethers and nice meated horned wether lambs.

A straight trade for calves this morning with black and whites probably the trade of the day. Continental bulls were definitely less this compared with last week, however best bulls still remained in the £360 - £405 with middle of the road bulls £250 - £320.
Natives bulls again found some stiff competition with the best entry from PJ&JE Bolland, Airton topping at £320 with an average of £280. Overall, heifers have bared the brunt of the downturn in trade this autumn, however today heifers were nice to sell and bar a handful of small, plain heifers trade was good, topping at £370 for a Church Farm Enterprise consignment.
Black and whites met some nice bidding with 30 B&W bulls averaging £86.07 and topping at £185 for a cracking Friesian presented by John and Rob Marshall of Dacre, with Richard Spence of Sutton In Craven next in line at £140. Flekvieh dairy bulls saw a very tight spread with all entries from C Watson selling between £150 & £155.

Ian Parkinson of Barden saw a strong price bid for his 2nd Calver with the Hartley family of Beamsley snapping her up for the heady price of £1950, which happened to be the same price that the Reserve Champion from Mark Smith of Winterburn made with his 28kg heifer selling to Mark Goodall of Tong.
