Keelham farm Shop was the major buyer at this week’s sale accounting for 12 clean cattle purchases including the top price per kg on the day a 535kg Continental cross heifer from JM Townsend, Laneshawbridge which made 247.5p/kg or £1324.

A more mixed show of sheep met with a reduced trade on the week. Smartest end were fewer in number and not just as hot to sell as last week, however the commercial and decent heavier lambs still remained a good trade with the 46kg to 52kg weight range averaging 170.7p/kg or £84.77. Lightweight Swaledale lambs growing in numbers and as long as they are well fleshed are finding a good following. Mule lambs not just up to last weeks levels, typically 160-165p, odd pens around 170p.

Calves seemed fairly stable on the week with averages only a pound or two different from the last few weeks. Some strong calves from Church Farm, Geoff and Margaret Booth and Paul and Janet Bolland all went to make strong prices in the late £300’s. Black  and whites not as hot as last week but still averaged out well at £67.59 with a number of small young calves dragging the average back.
