Prime Cattle (under 30 mos)

A good sign of stock clearance in run up to Christmas with good attendance of buyers. Top price per kg was the 470kg Limousin heifer from Ben Townsend , Laneshawbridge which sold to RC Binns of Saltaire for 248.5p/kg. Highest  gross price at £1453 was Keelham Farm Shop’s purchase of a 650kg British Blue Steer from Simon Bennett, Silsden Moor. Next week’s sale includes the January Prime Show and usual sale of cast cattle with full attendance of buyers anticipated.

A nice trade across the board today, handy weight lambs would be slightly dearer on the week, heavy lambs a shade easier. Top price on the day was £109 per head for Beltex crosses form Kevin Marshall of Darley, the same vendor also selling lambs to 247.7p. Mule lambs were a decent trade again, generally 150p to 155p. A big shopw of cast sheep were easily sold averaging over £60 per head.
