Prime Cattle (under 30 mos)
Keelham Farm Shop stepped up to the ringside and bought Champion and reserve for their Skipton and Thornton shops at the October Primestock Show. Champion was a British Blue cross heifer from Jim Baines of Trawden which weighed 555kg and made 253.5p/kg or £1407 whilst the reserve was a British Blue cross steer from James Drake of Carleton weighing 590kg and making 237.5p/kg or £1401. A good show of clean cattle with commercial type suckler bred heifers a much sharper trade and the premium cattle section well supported.

4,283 Prime & Cast Sheep
A larger show of sheep than expected sold away well to a similar trade on the week. The smart lambs were slightly dearer helped by an extra order at the ringside, with Frankland Farms Champion pen making 231.7p/kg to Keelham Farm Shop. It was Cecil Hutchinson from Kirkby Wiske topped the market with a super pen of Beltex crosses at 238.9p (36kg £86). Taylor Bros topped the market per head at £114 (50kg) purchased by Nick Dalby for Kendalls Farm Butchers and the same vendors making £109 of 46kg lambs to Thomas Shepherdson.
A nice Continental bred lamb was 180p to 200p whilst a commercial Continental lamb was around 170p. Heavy lambs averaged 170.8p or £82 per head, and Mules were generally around 160p.
