Trade for cast cattle remains steady nationally due to lack of demand for manufacturing meat on home and export markets. Meat and farm assurance helping to sell cattle under these circumstances. A few feeding orders help to keep leaner types a satisfactory trade even for non assured cattle.

PRIME SHEEP (4,663 Head)
A great show of sheep attracted a full ringside of buyers producing an overall average of 175p (+3p on the week).
Lowland lambs were dearer on the week, especially the best end with 5 wholesale firms keen for the Beltex types to lift all these well over 200p. Commercial types of Continental lambs were 5p to 10p dearer on the week, with 43kg to 46kg regularly at £32 to £36 over the weight. Lighter weights (36-38kg) well fleshed were good to sell at around £30 to £32 over the weight. Suffolk Lambs generally £26 to £30 over the weight, a few smarter show pens above this. Mule lambs were a similar trade on the week, mostly around £25 to £27 for the 40kg to 45kg weights. Horned lambs were generally a touch better to sell.
Today we held the monthly prime sheep show, sponsored by Wynstay and judged by Mr Paul Watson. The following results were given.
