A lighter show of sheep were £2 to £4
each dearer on the week and sold away well to an active ringside of 18 separate
buyers. The monthly prize show produced a wonderful show of quality
Continental cross lambs from which the
Judge Mr Paul Watson found his champion and reserve champions. The Champions
were presented by Brian & Lisa Hall of JG Hall & Son, Scaleber Farm and
weighing 42kgs they sold for £130 each or 309p/kg to Anthony Swales for
Knavesmire Butchers in York, who also purchased the Reserve Champions from
Hayley Baines at £116 weighing 40kg. Anthony Swales made it a clean sweep when
purchasing the 3rd prize pen from Jimmy Towler of Grindleton at £96
each.
Hill Bred lambs were a sharper trade
on the week, especially heavier Mule lambs. Prize winners in the show lambs
were tops in each section, but commercial lambs were also good to sell
