Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs
Forward: 5,672 Head, Overall av £58.64
The fortnightly Store Sheep sale produced the sale of the Autumn so far with all classes trading at higher levels than the previous sale, and notably significantly improved from the corresponding time last year. With grass keep coming available a packed ringside assembled to compete for lambs, which were a good selection offering something for all from strong short keep lambs to smaller wintering types.

The fortnightly Store Sheep sale produced the sale of the Autumn so far with all classes trading at higher levels than the previous sale, and notably significantly improved from the corresponding time last year. With grass keep coming available a packed ringside assembled to compete for lambs, which were a good selection offering something for all from strong short keep lambs to smaller wintering types. The strong end of Texels saw 14 pens sell for over £70, the best of these a pen of 80 Texels from Will Crane at £70.50. The Hill lambs were also better to sell, the 1,398 Mule & Masham Wether Lambs forward averaging £55.30, 12 pens selling for £60 or more, with James Hall of Darnbrook leading the way with a grand pen of 100 Mules selling at £63 each. Some 532 head of Horned Wether Lambs were within the entry and these levelled at £37.01. Notable prices were Gordon & Paul Middleton Garsdale with a pen of 50 Swaledales at £45, whilst Lonks topped at £46.50 form J&EA Metcalfe, Littondale for a pen of 24.
Next Sale is Wednesday 13th November – Entry of 6000 expected.
