PRIME SHEEP (3,383 Head)

A larger show of sheep than anticipated met with a trade some 12p/kg up on average.

Smart sorts as usual anywhere from 180p upwards to a top of 238.1p from Anthony

Thompson, Foulridge. Commercial export hoggs were a lot dearer on the week, some as

much as 20p/kg, 165p to 175p was common place for nice Continental and Suffolk cross Lambs, whilst plainer export weights were 155p to 160p. The Hill hoggs were much better to sell today, with Mules a lot sharper on the week, handy weighted Mules 40kg to 44kg were £18 to £22 over the weight, around 145p to 150p/kg, whilst Light weight Mule were 130p to 140p, leaving an average of 142p for Mules. Horned Wether Hoggs also found trade some 15p to 20p dearer on the week, but tup hoggs dragging the Swaledale average back. Cull Sheep would be about £5 each dearer on the week.
