FORTNIGHTLY SALE OF YOUNG FEEDING BULLS, STORE BULLOCKS & HEIFERS, BREEDING CATTLE
FORWARD: 377 HEAD OF CATTLE
Comprising: 120 Young Feeding Bulls, 250 Bullocks & Heifers, 7 Breeding Cattle
CCM Auctions held their fortnightly sale of Store & Breeding Cattle on Wednesday at Skipton Mart where 377 head were sold.
Young Feeding Bulls show an overall average of £934.54, although not at the dizzy heights of the £1,000 plus average of the last sale, trade was not too different as there was a distinct shortage of premium bulls to swell the average. The bullocks & heifers are a two tier system at the moment. Short keep cattle good to sell. James & Deborah Ogden, Austwick selling a run of 32 Charolais bullocks & heifers 20-22months old, topping at £1390. Including a pen of 3 bullocks at £1375, the consignment averaging £1163. Also notable were several runs of Angus Cattle, with Angus bullocks topping at £1250 for a pen of 3 from Richard Towell, Glusburn and Stuart Verity, Whitewell selling a nice run of 16 Angus bullocks, 18mo old to a top of £1195 averaging £1108.75. Angus bullocks averaged £1131.75 per head, whilst heifers topped at £980 averaged £934.29. The overall sale average for all bullocks sold stands at £1065.11.
Plenty of other prices at £1100 to £1300 for strong cattle. Younger cattle saw strong prices for smarter cattle, but commercial types are definitely in need of grass day buyers but with grass a long way off these cattle look better value for money than usually expected at this time of year.
