There was no shortage of cattle at CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale held on Wednesday at Skipton Mart, offering an unrivalled choice for the time of year to buyers many of whom had travelled from Staffordshire, the Welsh Borders, and all the Eastern counties from Durham to Lincolnshire to provide vendors with a packed ringside of buyers looking for every grade of animal from the smart suckler bred young bull, through Black & White Bullocks to yearling bullocks and heifers. All classes were quickly sold with trade on a high note, the overall average for store bulls was £1,031 whilst good yearling bullocks were £1000 to £1100, John Cheetham of Lamb Close Farm, Nidderdale selling a pen of 3 Charolais crosses, only 12 months old, at £1135 each.
A good show of breeding cattle were better to sell than of late, with more interest shown at the ringside and prices up by quite some way on those seen a month or so ago as summer grazing and grass becomes easier to find.
