Fortnightly sale of young feeding bulls, store bullocks & heifers, breeding cattle

CCM AUCTIONS held their fortnightly Cattle Sale at Skipton Mart on Wednesday where another large show was presented for sale. There were some good quality bullocks on offer with 8 pens achieving £1,300 or more to a top of £1,460, with a both highest priced pens of 3 or more making in excess of £1,300, whilst decent Beef sired bullocks from dairy cows were selling for around £1,200 up to £1,295 for British Blues from John & Alison Spensley, Thorlby who also sold MRI Bullocks to £1,175 including a pen of 4 MRI at £1,125 each. Strong Heifers were also in keen demand many making £1,150 to £1,250. Several runs of quality suckled heifer calves saw the smart end good to sell with Simon & Audrey Taylor from Cumberworth, John, Jill & James Huck, Hubberholme and Jonathan Townley, Clapham achieving prices from £1,100 up to a top of £1,290. Second quality commercial heifer calves though were no dearer on the fortnight, although as grass day approaches these will probably take a lift then. A plainer selection of bulls maintained the trade of recent sales.
The breeding section saw a very good entry for numbers, some quality outfits of heifers with calves were good to sell, whilst incalf cattle were a similar trade to previous sales.
