Cattle trade very similar and a shortage of meat in the dairy section. A few very plain worn cows bringing the average back but cows with finish in the dairies making 140p+ and the Beef crosses 145p+ with ease. Good coverage at the ring for feeding cows and no discounts for TB exempt cattle carrying meat and a farm assurance sticker.

PRIME SHEEP (1,728 Head)
A much increased show of new season lambs on offer this week attracted an increased ringside of buyers this week as firms around the country begin to come online for the new season. A total of 38 separate outlets represented, showing the strength of the live ring as the place to sell all weights and grades of sheep.
Robert Towers from Farleton leading the way today with lambs at £120, £119x3 and £117, Richard Maudsley and Trevor Stoney coming in at £116 each as well. Richard & Mark Ireland topped the per kilo price at 279.5p, 263.5p & 275p. Trevor Stoney sold lambs at 276p, Stuart Beeforth at 274p and Robert Towers at 270p twice.
A very mixed show of nearly 500 cull ewes included 200 horned ewes that pulled the average back to £41 this week, but heavy ewes were a similar trade on the week.
