FORWARD: 434 Breeding Sheep & Rams.
A flying finish at the Final Tuesday Breeding Sheep Sale of Ewes and Rams. Topping the trade of Mule Shearlings was J Brown from Thirsk, selling a pen at £130 and a pen at £122, then J Robertshaw sold a pen of Texel x for £130.
Aged ewes were also well sort after with many local farmers just making up their breeding numbers with odd couple of pens. Broken Mouthed Swales could be purchased around £38-£50 mark for the stronger sorts, tops £50 from R&E Cowperthwaite & Son, Stockdale Farm, and the plainer sorts anything around £25 mark. Broken Mouthed Mules av £48 topping at £58 with a pen from C Nelson. These were a great trade for what was on offer. Mainly plainer sorts on offer which were all getting away to local famers.
Tups sold very well with Messrs Lucas & Nairey topping the trade for a Texel Shearling at 520gns. Following closely behind was D Pawson with a 2 Texel Shearlings at 400gns. Charollais topped at 280gns also from Lucas & Nairey following behind with one at 200gns from B Roberts.
