Pedigree Charollais Females
A strong sale was witnessed at Skipton on Saturday when 88 Pedigree Charollais Females were brought forward for sale from members of The BCSS Northern Region with an overall selling average of £565 per head. The highlight of the sale came in the form of a Ewe lamb (lot 67) from Charles and Stephen Marwood’s Foulrice “Celebration Sale”.
Sired by high index ram Hyde Radio5Live, and out of a Lowerye Neil’s Favourite ewe, this classy ewe lamb with a top muscle EBV of 6.96 and overall index of 409.36, it sold at a sale leading 2650gns to Mr Charles Sercombe to join his Dalby Flock. Shortly before this, Mr Sercombe secured lot 64, with an index of 414and a top 5% for eye muscle, by Dalby Sherman out of a Mount Aloe Ewe, she sold for 750gn.
The second highest price was a gimmer shearling (lot15) sired by Foulrice Osprey, a Dalby Mount Aloe son. Again out of a Neils Favourite ewe with an index of 432, she had stood interbreed champion at Kilnsey Show in August whlst being a main part of this years show team, she sold scanned triplets to Dalby Sherman for 1700gns to the Boyo Flock of Mr DB Roberts, Shrewsbury. The averages show the strength of the sale which saw successful buyers present from Eire, Northern Ireland, Wales and Southern England together with a large contingent of buyers and friends from Northern Counties.
