Beef Shorthorn

The judge George McCulloch of Dunblane found his champion in Podehole Gypsy Harebell shown by Charles & Sally Horrell of Thorney at the Annual Show & Sale of Beef Shorthorn Cattle held on behalf of British Shorthorn Cattle Society at Craven Cattle Marts Ltd. The Chapleton Clansman heifer bred from a Nevada Warrior daughter,  Podehole Gypsy Angel (classified EX91) sold to Ian Clough of Pickering for 2900gns.

Reserve Champion was Clipper  X968 of Upsall, a March 2014 Dingo of Upsall daughter bred from the Canadian sired and EX91 Clipper X586 of Upsall, shown by Herdsman Ian Park on Behalf of the Rt Hon Gerald Turton. Clipper X968 was sold incalf to Firefox of Upsall to RJ Baudains of Nunnington for 3900gns.

Top price was Nonpareil X1001 Upsall a May, 2014 entry from the Upsall herd which by Fortress of Upsall an Ingleton C111 son sold to New York Farms of North Rigton for 4400gns.

Beef Shorthorn Cattle met a solid trade with a 99% clearance rate which saw plentiful commercial demand as well as breeders looking to take advantage of the high quality cattle on offer at this continually improving fixture.

South Devon

The South Devon Herd Book Society sale saw a small show of pedigree cattle headed up by a complete clearance for M/S A Welch of Tollerton. The Galtres herd sold three 2013 heifers sired by Welland Valley Warrior PD’d Incalf to average 1500gns.

Sir John Bell of Arncliffe Farms topped the maiden heifers with a May 2014, Arncliffe Galileo daughter which sold to AC farms for 1200gns.
