An increased show of sheep could not maintain last weeks as numbers poured out countrywide, however an average of 142p would be a very creditable result on the day with the good usual competitive ringside of buyers all present competeing as best they could on the day. Smart lambs and best sorts were still good to sell, a good list of Beltex over 200p, but a more commercial type of lamb and heavy lambs were the furthest down on the week.

Craven Dairy Auction (34 head)
A straight run of 34 dairy cattle in the market today with 13 in milk and 21 Youngstock. Despite the small show of milk today enough buyers were present to make them a handy trade with regular Robin Jennings of South Stainley taking the top honours and top price today at £1850 for his 2nd prize heifer. Brian Moorhouse of Hesper Farm took the Reserve Champion position with a 2nd Calver from his pedigree Aireburn Herd selling to the highest cow price of £1650. Ian Parkinson of Barden also received a good trade with his two home bred cows selling at £1400 and £1500 respectively.
A significant amount of bulling heifers forward today with 14 forward. A mixed trade received with better goods selling well and topping at £790 for a stylish heifer from James Kayley of Halton West. Heifer calves again nice to sell with Joss Lancaster averaging exactly £300 for his four bright heifer calves and topping at £380 and all going to Ms Jackie Bradley, Brimham Rocks.
