The Keasden Head herd of British Blue Cattle produced the Supreme Champion at the Skipton Blue Wednesday Sale. Owner Sheila Mason a regular leading price maker in the commercial feeding bull ring had earned considerable interest in ‘Keasden Head George Harpon’ , a 2011 son of ‘ Harpon De L’Orgelot’ out of their outstanding brood cow ‘Bringlee Doubliette’. The proven bull with tremendous muscle went on to join Malhamdale buyer Jeff Burrows for 3100gns. Joint top price was a mobile, modern bull,’ Owlden Granite’ congsigned by James and Deborah Ogden of Austwick, the 2 year old son of ‘Ballygrange Alex’ bred from a cow by ‘Tamhorn Venture’ sold to Mesrs S&P Scriven of Elslack for 3100gns. The reserve male champion came from the High Moss Herd of Jack and Tom Wallbank of Keasden.’ High Moss Funtime’ the 29 month old son of ‘Empire D’Ochain ‘is bred for from ‘Woodview Wanda’ the herd’s main brood cow and secured a bid of 2200gns from J Blake of Burnley. George and John Stapleton of the Craven Herd received strong support for their workmanlike, sound bulls’ with a 2011 son of ‘ Eclatant de la Sucrerie’ making 2850gns to Bernard Simpson of Heathfield and another 2 year old Eclatant son to Mesrs P&RM Sutcliffe of Queensbury. Regular consigner at this sale, Ken Gamble of Easingwold, produced three 2 year old sons from their show winning stock bull ‘Bringlee Clint’ at the sale making 2000gns, 2150gns and 1950gns.
