Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle
Forward: 311 head of cattle
Comprising: 302 Feeding Cattle (58 Young Bulls, 13 Beef Feeding Cows, 231 Bullocks & Heifers) & 9 Breeding Cattle.
Little change in the feeding bull trade. Last of the 2017 spring born bulls in the correct age spec got away well, into £1000+. Strong bulls over 12 months in forward condition got away in a similar value with the best £1200.
A small show of feeding cows were certainly a sharper trade and the average reflecting this as well.
Bullocks and Heifers were also seen to be dearer with buyers certainly being keener than the last 2 or 3 sales, maybe responding to several factors including a bit of grass growth, slight easing in straw prices, whilst prime prices being just a shade dearer as well this week. A decent show of bullocks saw continental crosses average £1030, strongest end mainly £1100 to £1200, topping £1300 from Fox Farms of Clitheroe. Heifers followed a similar story, and all classes were easily better to sell than of late.
A small and mixed show of breeding cattle sold to a total clearance.
