Forward: 659 head of cattle
Comprising: 121 Young Feeding Bulls, 18 Beef Feeding Cows, 369 Bullocks & Heifers, & 151 Breeding Cattle.
A great sale for June with 659 head of cattle sold. Young Bulls were first to sell and were easily sold to a large contingent of buyers, the stronger sorts were £1100 plus, and an overall average of £1037 showed the strength of the trade. A lighter show of cows topped at £1180 for a nice Limousin from Jonathan Townley of Clapham, closely followed at £1100 for a Charolais x from D Pawson, Billinge.
The store cattle were a good selection of both strength and yearling grazing sorts, bullocks averaged an amazing £1134 across the board, whilst the heifers levelled at £973. All grades of cattle were keenly contested all sale long, with strong cattle especially good to sell, tops of £1460 for bullocks and £1350 for heifers, and £1200 or more achieved for 105 of 369 stores.
