STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 21ST NOVEMBER 2018

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 489 head of cattle Comprising: 485 Feeding Cattle (101 Young Bulls, 35 Beef Feeding Cows, 349 Bullocks & Heifers) & 4 Breeding Cattle.

Bulls – with 70% of the entry this year’s calves’ buyers of this category had plenty of choice and as a result the strong quantity and remained a good trade. Top price were Mersrs K&GJ Huck of Austwick with a January born British Blue x @ £1090. Not as many 2017 Autumn bulls available which although slightly easier remained the size of choice for most buyers. Top price a December limousine cross at £1240 from Highfield Farm.

In the stores a much busier ringside of buyers meant for a brisker trade on the whole today with some cracking runs of bullocks and heifers making some heady prices. Strong bullocks saw a lot of competition with P&E Fox of Withgill once again to the fore with their pen of strong cattle topping the day at £1330 and taking the top price pen of three as well with three belting limousin bullocks at £1260.

Younger cattle a little harder to place with not quite the quality on show today compared to last fortnight however sweeter retail type store cattle nicely into £900 to £1100.
