A marvellous day today for late June with over 500 cattle in the Mart, completing a good week’s store cattle trading at CCM with us also having had 115 Stirks, Weaned Calves and Young Stores forward at last Saturdays Monthly Sale. The day started with a fast trade for store bulls, 4 vendors had cattle that broke past £1200 with Ian Pratt of Erringdon topping at £1280, Edward & John Parkinson, Robert Wade and John Fawcett also reaching these heights. The overall selling average for bulls was £950 representing a good result.

Beef Bred Feeding Cows are now becoming an increasing fixture on Wednesdays, with an overall selling average of £827.92 for the 12 head sold. Tops of £1,100 from Ciaran Donnelly for a nice blonde cow.

In the Store Cattle lines there was a full ringside of buyers gathered up looking for cattle, some having travelled a fair distance. Strong cattle were keenly contested, whilst quality young sorts were up a gear.

Forward 150 Head of Suckler Breeding  Cattle

A good entry of beef breeding cattle in conjunction with the annual consignments from Ashfield Farms and Trevor and Julie Smith both of Lothersdale. The relative scarcity of high quality suckler replacements brought a good crowd of specialist buyers keen to make the most of the opportunity and high quality families sold particularly well to a range of buyers from around the country.

Older cattle also got away well if presented with strong or high quality calves with the same also holding for Native Breed cows.
