STORE & BREEDING CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 5TH JULY 2017

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 429 head of cattle Comprising: 117 Young Feeding Bulls, 36 Beef Feeding Cows, 221 Bullocks & Heifers, & 55 Breeding Cattle. CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly cattle sale at Skipton on Wednesday where there was a very tidy entry for mid summer.

Young Bulls were once again good to sell with several of the best end making it over £1200, up to £1300 for a cracking Blue cross from Ben Townsend of Laneshawbridge. A strong trade though for the next grade of bull with a full contingent of buyers present. Feeding Cows were the best trade seen yet and still a good show of 36 head, with 7 head making it to top side of £1200, with the 36 head averaging £916.

Store Cattle were a solid trade, a shortage of strong types but £1250-£1340 the price range for the 18 month types with shape, but it was the yearling bullocks and heifers that really found favour with seasonal buyers out in force looking for mouths to graze additional grass. Breeding Cattle found a good gathering of buyers and these continue to find new homes at continually good prices with purchasers buoyed by good returns for their store cattle and grazing cows in the store ring.
