An increased entry of feeding bulls today as this year’s calves begin to come forward for sale. Strong bulls received plenty of attention with best £1,150 plus up to £1,340 for a cracker from Ben Townsend of Laneshawbridge. In the Store Section, quality of any age sold very well, but a plainer commercial quality type beast was a shade harder to sell. (Beef breeding report below)

Records were broken for females at the Autumn pedigree event with the “Millers Cote Nook herd” was dispersed.
Leading price was Millers Cote Jezabell a Wilodge Fastrac Heifer scanned incalf to Netherhall Jackpot for Jan/feb which sold to Kevin Sunderland of Rossendale for 4200gns. Not far behind was Millers Cote Ivy a 2013 “Carmorn Dauphin” daughter sold with her Wilodge Goldcard heifer calf and carrying a service to Galileo which joined CCM’s field person Janet Sheard.
A small show of Pedigree Bulls saw a complete clearance of the Limousin Bulls on offer, headed up by Jan Feathers entry Coachhouse Lionheart a Mereside Daytona son which was bred from Coachouse Fantasy bought by Mr Feather in 2013 and sold on the day to Sheila Mason of Keasden Head for 1700gns.
The champion was Toftgate Lion shown by Chris and Caroline Prince of Greenhow. Sired by Toftgate Harry sold to Nidderdale buyers AD Metcalfe & Son of Birstwith for 1650gns.
Top price bull was an outstanding pedigree Beef Shorthorn bull Hartlington Julius consigned by JM Daggett of Hartlington. Exhibited throughout the summer at local shows, the 2015 Croxton Park son “Orville” with an exceptional carcass joined a leading consigner of prime cattle locally Mr Ben Townend for use on his heifers, when knocked down for the top price of the at 1750gns.
