Forward: 512 head of cattle
Comprising: 190 Young Feeding Bulls, 318 Bullocks & Heifers & 4 Breeding Cattle
At CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale held on Wednesday at Skipton Mart there was a nice entry of 512 head. The sale included a special show of young feeding bulls, with judging undertaken by Mr Keith Bowes of York. There were some great bulls put before the judge and the awards were as shown below. The quality on offer was evident with British Blues averaging £1027.
In the store cattle section buyers were once again out in force. Strong cattle were another sharp trade, with Messrs Mason of Low Hall leading the day with a pen of 6 Charolais selling at £1425 per head. There was a good show of bullocks, especially native breeds which were plentiful with 10 native breeds represented by the end of the day. Younger cattle would a very similar trade to the last sale, with nice yearling heifers receiving good attention from buyers.
