A decent November show of cattle with quality sorts a very good trade. Strong Bulls good to sell, Messrs Gornall of Croft House, which is right at the top of Dent Dale, topped the section at £1290 with a 13 month Lim Bull. Those rising a year old weren’t too far behind with Messrs Wilkinson of Out Rawcliffe had a great run of Blue bred bulls at 11-12mo from £11990 up to £1280. James Huck of Sowerthwaite, Austwick had a great run of 8-9month old Limousin and Blonde crosses the two best at £1250 £1240 and others at 1200.
In the Store section Bullocks were again a good sale, Peter Fox had three that made either side of £1200 at 16-18months old, whilst Steven Horsfield of Mytholmroyd led the younger cattle with a great Bullock calf 9 month old that sold for £1200. In the heifers it was Messrs Wilkinson who topped prices of £1360 down to £1210 for stronger heifers, Craig Schofield of Cheadlewood had a super homebred Limousin Heifer just over a year old at £1200, and Sheila Mason of Keasden had a homebred Blue cross Heifer that was exactly a year old also sell at £1200. John & James Mellin of Black Lane Ends were next in line, also with a homebred Blue cross heifer at 12 Months making £1150. Other vendors with homebred heifers under 12 months were Messrs Mallinson, Mount Tabor at £1140John Harper of Sedbergh at £1100 and £1120, and a great pen of four Limousin Heifers 10 months form Procters Farms at £1090. Commercial cattle sold away ok, but were certainly not as easy to sell as the smart stuff.
