STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 25TH SEPTEMBER 2019

Fortnightly Sale of Young Feeding Bulls, Store Bullocks & Heifers, Breeding Cattle Forward: 600 head of cattle. Comprising: 557 Feeding Cattle (79 Young Bulls, 60 Beef Feeding Cows & Bulls, 418 Bullocks & Heifers) & 43 Breeding Cattle.

Feeding Bulls – remain a solid trade, average of £988 despite a steady finished price. A few 2018 Spring Calves beginning to show with a lot £800+ but price will be sensitive if exposed to large numbers. Late Autumn bulls £1000+ and the heavy bulls reflective of the consent finished price, the best £1200.

Feeding Cows – a better show of feeding cows which assisted in an increased average of £790 on the fortnight. Continentals carrying flesh £1000+ and the first cross lean continental suckler cows £700+. Two high quality cast bulls from an entry of 5 saw a British Blue at £1530 and a Limouisn at £1400

Stores – A very mixed show for quality when compared to normal, with over half the entry being Beef bred from dairy cows, dairy breeds or native breeds. Anything with strength sold away reasonable, with best smart retail quality types £1000 to £1200, and best suckler bred types around 10mo in the 8’s and 9’s. Natives found the usual god enquiry for Angus and Hereford, Bullocks to £1075, and HF Blks were to £890 from Duncan Holme.
Plainer younger heifers looking weathered from the recent rain continue to look less money than a month ago, although bullocks continue to attract better interest from the ringside.
