At CCM Auctions fortnightly cattle sale there was a much sharper feel to the trade than earlier on in the spring. Short keep cattle caught the attention and were easier to sell than of late.
Some excellent runs of yearling cattle were forward as is usual at this time of year, the best end attracting prices of up to £1,100, William King selling a cracking run of 33 Charolais and Limousin yearling bullocks ranging from £1,060 to £1,140, others regularly around the £1,000 mark. Young Bulls were also a better trade than anticipated, those rising a year old certainly sharper than of late. Quality heifers also continue to be a keen trade, with strong grazers well bid for but more commercial younger types no better than of late.
