STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 28TH OCTOBER 2015

Forward: 539 head of cattle Comprising: 146 Young Feeding Bulls, 1 Grazing Cows, 382 Bullocks & Heifers, 10 Breeding Cattle CCM Auctions conducted their fortnightly cattle sale at Skipton Mart on Wednesday which included the Annual Autumn Show & Sale of Suckled Bull Steer and Heifer calves (2015 born) together with a prize Show of over year show potential cattle (2014 born).

A good show of cattle were forward for sale, sellers should be aware however that some buyers are requiring more information from vendors of none homebred cattle as some processors have announced new pricing measures in the form of new complicated grading grids and deductions for cattle that have had over 4 movements or need to satisfy new residency periods on the feeder/finishers farm. Many animals that are farm assured can have 4 or more movements in its life, but it still farm assured. The Live Market remains the place to short circuit these new measures and find a buyer in a competitive environment that takes the animal on its merits.

Cattle were generally a similar trade, bulls finding a full ringside of regular buyers together with others who attend this special sale on a seasonal basis. Strong stores were no cheaper on the fortnight, but suckled calves although having a full ringside buyers were cheaper on the year as expected.
