STORE CATTLE - WEDNESDAY 3RD APRIL 2019

Forward: 609 head of cattle Comprising: 609 Feeding Cattle (164 Young Bulls, 47 Beef Feeding Cows & Cast Bulls, 398 Bullocks & Heifers)

Feeding Bulls – a sharp trade with more cattle in forward condition in both age sections, helped by a lighter show because of lambing. With a smaller show the lighter end of the entry sold particularly well with a preference for pure bred limousins and cattle with potential.
Feeding Cows/Cast Bulls – 41 Cows and 6 Cast Bulls forward today met with the usual packed ringside of buyers. A far more commercial entry today, with only a handful of top end cows which were in the £1100’s, topping £1180 for TH&K Wood, Birstwith and £1150 from Mike Thuey, York and £1150 John Bosworth, Rossendale. There was also a strong trade for any genuine grazing types shown by the overall sale average of £841. More cast bulls on offer this week and they were easily sold with plenty men ringside for feeding or use as a working bull. Next Fortnight is the Spring Show & Sale of Beef Feeding Cows and OTM Clean, entries to the mart office or contact Ted Ogden for more details.
Store Cattle were back on form with all classes seeing prices bounce back after the lower trade of last fortnight. With prime trade just stabilising, the strong sorts were quickly sold, but what was more evident was certainly the better trade for yearling grazing sorts with grass day just around the corner and additional buyers out in force for this age bracket. Bullocks particularly in demand, speak to Ted or Sam for more details.
