Forward: 783 head of cattle
Comprising: 774 Feeding Cattle (284 Young Bulls, 68 Beef Feeding Cows, 422 Bullocks & Heifers) & 9 Breeding Cattle.
216 of 284 head entry of feeding bulls aged between 5 and 10 months av £920 with top price of £1140. 11 to 12 month old bulls av £955with plenty of high quality bulls available but cattle not as strong as the same sale in 2018. All bull found a ready audience with 330-360kg bulls a very good trade despite the quality. Stronger bulls 400kg + met similar interest with £1100 stopping most bulls. Buyers cautious of the extreme end of bulls.
Feeding Cows were forward in large numbers and a very fast trade ensued to level at £827 across the board. Trade topped at £1,780 for a British Blue Cast Bull, and the best of the cows were £1100-£1280. Forward cows for short term keep were well sought, especially if farm assured, be careful of keeping none assured cows too long before sale, vendors advised to leave time for residency periods to apply on feeders farms. Medium cows and leaner types were probably the trade of the day with feeders keen to stock up pens. More cows needed for next fortnight, if you require more details please speak to Ted or Jeremy about trade.
A healthy trade throughout in the store cattle with a larger show of stronger and older cattle on offer today, even more so than last fortnight. A busy ringside of buyers meant for some good prices throughout the sale with the few young sweet cattle seeing some healthy competition with the likes of Mark Evans from Steeton seeing all his 8 month old blonde bullocks top £900 and peaking at £940. In the stronger cattle it was a native hitting the highest price of the day with John Rennard of Beamsley topping out at £1295 for a monstrous Aberdeen Angus bullock with Kevin and James Wilson of Blubberhouses topping the heifers at £1280 with a thick and well conformed British Blue. Again today, cattle sold in bunches seemed to command stronger bidding with packets like the one presented by Messrs Barton seeing £1125 for their pen of three British Blue bullocks.
