Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs, Feeding and Breeding Sheep
Forward: 3,132 Head (Overall av £60.99)
A good show of sheep for our fortnightly sale with 2911 lambs and 221 Ewes forward for sale.
Trade was very similar to last fortnight with strong sheep in sharp demand, and medium to long keep attracting very strong interest from a busy ringside of purchasers drawn from a large area.
The big lambs were all over £70, medium keep lambs including Mules in the late 60’s and long keep lambs early 60’s or late 50@s. Horned lambs were forward in large numbers and found a very good trade.
More feeding ewes about and these attracted a sharp trade with several lamb customers turning attention to ewes with lambs being a decent trade.
The Addingham Sheepbreeders Group held their Annual Charity Show & Sale in Aid of Manorlands Hospice where 27 lambs were donated by local farmers and the buyers bid strongly for them with the Champion Lamb, picked out by show judges Nick & Heather Bowker of NFU Skipton, from Patrick & Thomas Walker selling four times for a total of £1,030. John Turner of Draughton secured it for £340 and re donated it, NFU Skipton paid £330, Carrs Billington/PFS paid £210 before CCM paid £150 and sent the lamb to keep where it will be sold again the New Year for Manorlands.
