STORE LAMBS - WEDNESDAY 14TH NOVEMBER 2018

Fortnightly Catalogue Sale of Store Lambs & Breeding Sheep. Forward: 7087 Head (5264 Store lambs & 1823 Breeding Sheep) Store Lambs – Overall av £54.81

A very similar trade today on the whole compared with last fortnight, however the stronger end of the Mule wethers were definitely dearer with pens regularly £60 - £65 topping at £67 for a pen from RD Metcalfe of Brearton.

 

Best continental lambs again commanded strong prices with Frankland farms once again seeing the best of the day’s trade at £93.50 and £93 for their pens of Beltex Lambs helping the average to a sprightly £70.31 for all Beltex Lambs today. David Hargreaves of Airton topped the Texel lambs at £78.50 with a pen of strong with a section average of £59.  

 

Extra faces ringside on the 426 Swaledale wethers meant for a brisker trade at an average of £30.81 and topping at £44 for a fleshy pen from Geoff Wilson of Gordale Scar, Malham. 175 Dalesbred lambs were in a similar gear averaging £42.12 and topping at £47.5 for a pen from JA Stoney, Pateley Bridge.   


PLEASE NOTE: Commencing 28th Nov, we will also be taking entries of Grazing and Feeding Ewes of all breeds, which will be sold with the store lambs. Regular buyers enquiring for ewes to graze and feed. Speak to Ted Ogden for more details,

 

In the breeding sheep a healthy trade was had for the gimmer lambs on offer with some late seasoi lambs making some heady prices with Kevin Wilson of Blubberhouses topping at £87 for his pen of NEMSA gimmer lambs. All in all good lambs sold away nicely with small late born lambs the dearest trade of all

 

The few pens of Shearlings and aged sheep were sold alongside the gimmer lambs today and met a ready audience of buyers with some respectable prices throughout, topping at £90 for a pen of Mule shearlings from Messrs

Mawson of Warsill.
