There was the usual wide selection of lambs present, offering sheep for short, medium and long term keep. Leading the prices for pens of 40 or more lambs was Andrew Haggas, Otterburn with a pen of great Beltex Texel Crosses that sold for £95 per head. Michael Mckenzie from Arncliffe had the 2nd highest price pen of 40 or more with 40 Continentals making £90 each, followed by Michael Parker, Winterburn with 50 Suffolks making £87.50 each.
Other leading prices saw a strong single lamb from E&AM Simpson & Son, Pateley Bridge make the top price on the day of £109, whilst a pen of 10 Beltex from ID Brown, Marske, Richmond sold at £94 each. GJ Cropper, Baxenden sold two pens of Beltex crosses, 14 at £92 and 17 at £90, whilst Swinbank & Briggs topped their run of Continental Lambs at £90. Overall there were 28 pens at £80 plus.
Most of the nice runs of first cross lambs for medium keep settled at selling prices mainly in the 70’s, whilst long keep lambs were in the 60’s or early 70’s depending on quality.  
A few pens of Hill bred Lambs making their way to the first sale and attracting the eye of feeders and growers who have abundant grass, with larger pens of well framed Mules generally in the mid to late 60’s.
With prime trade holding strong, and the excellent season for grass growth, there is a good demand for store lambs and so a large show is required for next fortnight, please speak to either Ted or Kyle if you want to discuss selling lambs or phone the Mart Office to book lambs in for sale.
